Under regional planning and development we have 1. â€" the Waterloo County Area Planning Board. This was the first such board to receive a subsidy from the Ontario government, and which is now preparing to emback on some very comprehensive studies leading to an official plan for the county. The studies will include a major economic base study and alternatives for proposed land use plans. Only recently, Professor Gertier of the planning and resources institute of the Uniâ€" versity of Waterloo ‘was given a grant from the department of economics and development. Along with this, it was just reâ€" cently announced that the govâ€" ernment was ready to launch a provincial study into the changâ€" ing structure of local governâ€" ments â€" Dr. Fyffe will also be in charge of this study, which seems to mean that both studies other such county studies. This review (actually one of a number of such undertaken by the province) has been underway for a little over six months.
