The western world has been a â€" rapidly growing, â€" thriving, buslling society so busy doing, that planning was sometimes forgotten. Now, in the midst of some great changes in history, many people are beginning to wonder if we sacrificed some of the beauty and convenience of our own district, beauty and convenience that can be recapâ€" tured. With the Centennial year alâ€" most upon usâ€"the time for acâ€" tion is NOW. The Plan is not a panacea for alt the ills that are plaguing our cities, towns and villages. Rather it can be the first step towards making our "Home Town‘"‘ the place we want it to One of the most important feaâ€" tures of the Norwich Plan is the fact that it is adaptable to any community or street regardless of background or locality. The only thing that one street may have in common with another is that it is used by people. changes are called for, the costs should be in the region of norâ€" mal redecorating expenses. Acâ€" tually the Norwich Plan is more of an investment than an exâ€" penditure. In communities where it has been tried the merchants have reported am increase in trade. There are other dividends beside the increase in trade, one is a greater pride in the community and more attractive working conditions. Dear Sir: The report by Chief Basse covâ€" ered only this community. Your statistics may be accurate for the nation, but here in this two University city, where most uniâ€" versity and even high school students are drivers, they are far from adequate. Concerning women drivers many ‘"experts‘ insist they are safer drivers than men. However, as far as applyâ€" ing the word ‘"idiot" to myself, I must sadly report that many of my friends (?) agree with you. Dear Sir: SH 5â€"8934 1 Bridgeport Rd. Eds.
