MARRIAGES The city too, is fortunate to have members in counâ€" cil who have fought hard and long to keep the city budâ€" get within fair and reasonable bounds. They have done a good job, and, as the finance chairman has said, turnâ€" ed in "palatable mill rates". They are to be congratulatâ€" ed. While it is true, that in some areas, school boards have gone overboard in providing luxuries that could very well have been done without, here in Waterloo we have a concientious and able board who are more in‘ terested in adequate and efficient facilities rather than frills. It is because of this attitude that they have kept their budget within fair and reasonable bounds. Spiraling costs of education form a very high porâ€" tion of any city‘s budget. The city of Waterloo is no dif, ferent. This is a burden that none of us can or should wish to do without, for it is through the knowledge gainâ€" ed in the schools, that will enable the coming generatâ€" ions to do better for this old world of ours, than we have done in the past. Education is the pathway to a good future for our children, and their children after them, and is most deserving of every consideration and assisâ€" tance that we, of the older generation can give.
