‘VEN FLY FISHERMEN have their moments of despair. Talkâ€" ig to Lorne Dumart today, he was telling us about being up 1 the Gorge fly fishing for Brown Trout. He said that he and his companion were having a very 0d night so far as casting was concerned, each cast rolling it smoothly to the designated spot. While they were admiring their own ability, a young lad ame flailing down the stream, also fly fishing. He was doing everything that shouldn‘t be done, smacking his fly into the water and then ripping his line loose from the water again with enough noise to scare every trout right up on the bank. Watchin‘é such a proceedure iumfounded our heroes, but their amazement was as nothâ€" ‘ng to what followed. After one of the flailing casts, the rod of the young lad suddenly arched and he was into a fish. To have him take any trout with such a cast was bad enough, but when some time later he proudly landed a OuUTOOOR ADVENTURES OLDEST ANGLICAN CHURCH IN CAPE BRETON â€" St. George‘s Anglican Church in Sydney has the distinction of being the first Anglican church in Cape Breton and the fourth oldest in Canada. During the summer we caught so many muslu'es{ we got the idea we could go out any time and produce. Then one day a chap from town blew into the cottage. He paddled out about fifâ€" teen feet off the end of the dock and while unwrapping the line, allowed the boat to drift down the lake about a hundred yards. Then he whirlâ€" ed the spoon around his head a couple of times, heaved it out and started paddling back. He was about fifty feet off the end of our dock when a musky smacked the kidney spoon. The fish was strong, but the young lad was stronger and he yanked that fish into the boat so fast, the fish didn‘t know what was happening. When the boy came into shore, the first thing my friend did was try and buy the fish off him. Not succeeding there, he wanted to buy the old kidâ€" ney spoon.
