It was at the Chicago World‘s Fair that the wiener and the bun got together. The piping hot wieners were a great favorite with the growds, but they were too hot to hold. The vendor at first providâ€" ed white gloves for the hotâ€"dog lovers to use while eating the "red hots". This didn‘t prove too profitable as the gloves had a: way of disappearing. It was then that the idea of placing the hot wieners between pieces of bread. A special, long bun was the obâ€" vious development and so we got the hotâ€"dog as we know it today. But whether it is the round hamburger, or the elongated hotâ€" dog, squareâ€"shaped or pearâ€" shaped, the sandwich is still the picnicker‘s best friend. Season raw beef, pat in 8 thin rounds.
