C. Luckhart, the receipts were well in advance of last year. Over $18,â€" 000 were collected out of a total of slightly less than $30,000. Quite a number of taxpayers took advanâ€" tage of the 2 percent diseount on the second instalment by paying their taxes for the whole year. Trim Trees In New Hamburg Storm Hits Hydro Service The electrical storm on Sunday cut off the hydro power for several hours. Two wires crossed at the local power house and the town was without current for about two hours. The shade trees along both sides of Peel street have been trimmed, the lower branches having been cut away. This was done in order to bring the electric lights along the street more into the open, since some lights were almost hidden by the tree branches and did not serve their purpose. Every other light was recently cut off to comply with a request made to all municipaliâ€" \ties to lessen street lighting in orâ€" der to conserve power for war inâ€" |dustries.
