The company has built up a lucrative business in the various provinces of the Dominion, and shipâ€" ments are made from coast to goast. Working. Full Time. The Canada Felting Company is also reported to be working full time while the St. Jacobs Creamery and Snider Flour Mill are enjoying a good share of business. Attend Convention. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hahn, after spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Russel Hahn, returned to their home. Snider, are under way and buildâ€" ing operations will be commenced as soon as plans are approved. A Thriving Industry. One of the ')usiest industriel ’plants in the county is that of the 0. J. Smith Shoe Company Limited. ‘The: {‘;resid,ent of the company, Mr. Smith, in conversation with a Chronicle representative, stated that business has been particularly good this year and 1933 promises to be the best year in history. A staff of 72 hands is now rushed taking care of orders now on hand whici will keep the plant working to capacity until Christmas. Last week over 6,500 pairs of shoes were turned out and overtime was required to keep pace with orders. This week more hands were added to the staff. Accommodation Taxed. Mr. Smiith stated that a new twoâ€" story addition to the factory, 50 x 40 feet, was built last year. With the continued growth of business more floor space is needed and neâ€" gotiations are now under way to acquire land from the old school site on which to erect an addition to the factory. The old public school building bought by the company last year is being used as a warehouse. Associated with Mr. O. J. Smith in the business are his two sons, Mr. Warren Smith, production manâ€" ager, and Mr. Marvin Smith, office manager. Mr. and Mrs. Graham Lackner, who have spent several weeks with the â€" former‘s brother, Mr. Fred Lackner and Mr#. Lackner, returned to their home in Windsor last week. The late Mr. Yanchus was born at Mt. Carmel, Pa., July 17th, 1894, the youngest son of the late Mr. and â€"Mrs. John J. Yanchus. About 1912 he came to Canada, locating at Kitchener, In 1915 he enlisted in the 118th Battalion at Kitchener. About a year later he was transâ€" ferred to the Forestry Corps serving in France. On June 6th, 1919, he was married to Miss Eniily Williams, at Basingstoke, returning to Canada Nov. 22, 1919, and coming to Elâ€" mira. Several weeks later, the late Mr. Yanchus and Mrs. Yanchus left for Detroit where they resided for fourteen years. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Lawrence and Barney, and one daughter, Joyce, all, of Detroit, Mich. Two brothers, John J., of EL mfra, and Frank J. of Waterloo,‘ four sisters, Mrs.h?)r.) S. E. Peters, Masontown, Pa., Mrs. Elmer Nester, Mt. Carmel, Pa., Miss Anna Yanchus and Mrs.. Carl Merck, Morgantown, W. Va., also survive. The funeral was held on Saturday , morning at 9 o‘clock from the Ratzâ€" Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener,, to St. Mary‘s Church. Rev. It was rather unfortunate that at the time the investigator was here, Mr. Alex. Brandt, chairman of the local Relief Board, was in Toâ€" ronto attending a meeting of the Emergency Municipal Association. However, Mr. Brandt is determined to have thg@ Relief Department forâ€" ward to him all the charges conâ€" tained in a letter forwarded to the Provincial Relief Department by an Elmir@ person. Yanchus, of Detroit, Mich., died on Thursday morning at 5.15 o‘clock at the St. Mary‘s Hosâ€" pital, Kitchener, where he had been a patient during the past four weeks. In June fie had undergone an operation at the Receiving Hosâ€" pital, Detroit, for a ruptured gastric ulcer. About five weeks ago he came to Elmira to recuperate, but instead of improving, his health gradually began to fail and on Thursday niorning he died.
