The eighth annual Slnday School Convention of the Strakford district of the Lutheran Synod of Canada was held in Trinity Lutheran Church here on Wednesday, May 24th. The best program of horse races presented in several years was witâ€" ‘nessed by a large crowd of racing fans on the holiday. The early mornâ€" ing rain left the track in perfect conâ€" dition ad some fast heats were run off with blanket finishes. Sherry Gratton took the local classified in three straight heats but was forced to the limit by Vera Harvester, who finished a close second in every heat. Eight horees started in the 2.17 pace and the finishes left little to be de sired in every heat. Donna Gratton took two firsts and a second, while Bingen. Worthy fAnished first in the last heat. The third race was equal ly as good with Marion R. Harvester winning in straight heats although & blanket could â€"have been thrown over the entire field as they came down the stretch. It was in the final heat of the 2.19 pace that the fastest time of the day was made, the horses stepping the mile in 2.14%. This time was made by Bingen Worthy owned by J. Hartman and driven by his brother Harry. This gelding was the futurity winer at the Toronto exhibition two years ago.
