Believed to have been despondent ©n account of financial worries and il! health, Robert Patterson, aged 28 eon of Mrs. Dorothy Patterson, of the second conceasion of North Easthope ended. his life by hanging early on Tuesday. The sulclde took place on the farm of hie hrother, Walter Patterson, where he had been living and the latter found the body hanging from a rafter in the barn shortly before eleven o‘clock. He went to the home of Blake Hyde on the next farm and MHigh County Conetable E. J. Beatty was called. In company with Coroner Maxwell J. Fraser, Constable Beatty of Stratâ€" ford went to the farm and Investh gated the circumatances and decidâ€" ed that an inquest was not neces sary. Bethel Ever Ready Bible Class held its monthly social gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Z. Mcâ€" Intyre on Friday evening with about 40 in attendance. W. H. Diamond, chairman, presided over the gatherâ€" ig. Hymn 12 was sung. Rev. W. Walker Ted in prayer. Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Ellis. Bible Study was given by Mre. (Rev.) Banes, and a solo by Mrs. Hese. Mrs. M. Facey gave a pleasing paper on \“Making Decision". A mixed quarâ€" tette composed of Mre. M. Facey, Mrs. A. E. Bean, Mesers. A. E. and Robert Bean was well received. A very informing address on the loyalty of the French in Canada to British Institutions was given by A. E. Bean. Following the address the roll call was responded to by "Who‘s Who in .Canada". The secretary‘s report was read by Mrs. R. Bean and minutes of the last, meeting were adopted. ‘The treasurer, Mré. A. Facey gave her report which showed a ewbstantial balance on hand. Current events were ably given by J. G. Wood. Mrs. A. Facey was elected program convener and Mr. Robert Bean, social convener for the next meeting which will be held at J. G. Wood‘s in August. Rev. W. Walke then took charge of the soctal program. He placed a verbal estimate of the cost there at about $14,000. New Hamburg Notes. Dawes Fewkes, delivery boy for the Model Dairy ,town, was taken to the Sick Children‘s Hospital at Toronto on Tuesday by Rotarian W. E. Ellis of Kitchener. Dawes will be in the hospital 6 or 8 weeks to undergo an operation for his lameâ€" ness. He is being taken care of by the Kitchenerâ€"Waterloo Rotary Club while in the hospital at Toronto. Chief Scherer recovered John Roth‘s car, which was stolen from the side of his barn on the night of the 27th of June. The car was found alongside of the road two miles north of Monkton, stripped of tires and battery. According to Chief Scherer, the car was seen there the next morning but was not stripped until four days later. One license plate was left on the car. It is exâ€" pected that an arrest will be made ehortly. The car was towed into Monkton and left in a Jocal garage. Estimate $14,000, An important real estate transâ€" action was put through this week when Mr. A. J. Brenner, local groâ€" cer, purchased the Ernst Block in which he has his store. The price paid was around $3,000 and is conâ€" sidered low even at present day low real estate values. The deal was put through to wind up the estate. Police Chief Recovers Stolen Car. A. J.
