A petition for a common sewer on Arthur street, ~North from _ the Canaquagiquie River to the northern limite of the town was approved by the council. ‘The construction of this sewer is the outcome of the conâ€" troversy between farmers who«e farms adjoin the Canaquagique Riâ€" ver and the Great West Felt Comâ€" pany whose trade waste runa into the river, thus causing polution of the water. JACOBS: : evening ’ Many friends attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Israel Bauman on Friday morning at the Elmira Menâ€" nonite Church. Burial took place in the Mennonite cemetery adjoining. The late Mrs. Bauman, who before her marriage was Amelia Spaetz, died at the home of her danghter, Mre. Daniel Gingrich on Wednesday, Oct. 14th, after a lengthy iliness. She was born in Massachusets and came here with her parents as a child. Forty five years ago, she marâ€" ried Mr. Israe) Bauman, who predeâ€" ceased her 15 years. They farmed near West Montrose, moving later to a farm near Elmira. Surviving are four sohs, Angus, Isaiah, Ell and Noah and one daughter, Mrs. Daniel Gingrich, all of Peel township. Also a brother, William Spaetz of Kitchâ€" ener and a sister, Mrs. Josuah Rudy of Erbsville. Mr. W. C. Quickiall, who auffered One of Elmira‘s best known citiâ€" zens, Joseph Enrst, died suddenly on Thursday morning, after an illness of only three weeks, following a paralytic stroke. ‘The late Mr. Ernst was born in Wellesley on October 28, 1859. On March 4, 1889, he was married to Layina Stauffer and for nearly seven years worked on his lather‘s farm â€" in â€" Peel township. About 33 years ago they moved to this district and located on a farm which is now part of district along Arthur street. Ernst street was named after the late Mr. Ernst. About 12 years ago he retired from ‘fnrmlng. He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife and one daughter.
