Prices were steady at Monday‘s advance of 15 to 25 cents per cwt. and some shippers held cattle in the hope of un upturn in the event of a moderate fresh supâ€" ply for Wednesday. Good weighty steers soid from 6 to 6% eents, with a load averaging close to 1,200 lbe at $.45 cents per pound, and plain downward to 5 cents. Handyweight butcher cattle, plain to good quality, brought 5 to 6 cents, and the odd load of choice steers averaging 940 pounds made a top of 6.65 cents for anything under 1,050 pounds, outâ€" side the baby beel class. . Baby beeves sold steady at from 6 to 8 cents per pound. Good butcher cows brought 4 to 44 cents, though very few made the top of the spread. Bulls were a elow trade at 3%% to 4 cents for butcher kind. The calf market opened steady at 8% to 9 cents per pound for choice, and with the odd prime up to 9‘2 cents, but trade was draggy toward the close, with choice vealers selling at 8 to 8%% cents. The hog market was firmer on a light run, and prices on the bulk were up 25 cents per cwt., bacons f.o.b. selling at 8 cents and weighed off car bacons at 8% cents.
