Quotations: Heavy beef steers........$8 50 Butcher steers, choice 8 75 Do, common......... 5 50 Total receipts toâ€"day were 5,300 cattle, 910 calves, 1,060 hogs, and 2.820 sheep. Hoge were still unsettled, 114%e ‘being offered by the buyers, which was %c lower, but there were no settlements. Sellers expected to hold last week‘s price of 11%¢, off car. The comparatively small run of lambs was taken by noon, with firm prices general. The best lot went at 12%¢, ‘but most held steady at 12¢; the culls sold at 9 and 10c. Good sheep held their level, mostly going at 5% to 64c, with the poorer grades down to 3¢ for culls. The small ofâ€" fering was thought to indicate the final cleanâ€"up of lambs for the seaâ€" Opening with another light run, toâ€" day‘s cattle offering was quickly ab sorbed at prices better by % to % cent. By two o‘clock, 3,000 of the 5,300 received had been run over the ~scales and by the close practically everything was cleared out. The very moderate supply was largely reaponsible for the strong buying, as itis being realized that this year‘s pasture cleanâ€"up is two or three weeks ahead of average years, with a resultant prospect of a short supâ€" ply in the near future. 1 I Prices on calves remained steady | with a moderate supply offered. The vealers sold at 11 to 16c, and the graseers. which wore a large propor-’ tion, going at 5l&to T%%c, a shade ibetter. | Buying of store cattle opened slowâ€" ly but soon gained momentum with prices a shade better resulting. Stockers went at 6.35 to 7%¢, and feeders for 6% to 8%c. The 300 stales which were left in the pens over the weekâ€"end through lack of demand last week were rapidly takâ€" en up. Anything in good quality in killers was quickly bought up at increased prices over last week, with the greatâ€" est demand in the plainer varieties. Good butcher steers and heifers went at 8% to 9%4. One lot of choice steers brought 9.90c¢, while the averâ€" age good heavy steers sold for 8% to 9%c. The plainer kinds of steers and heifers sold from 8% down to 7%¢, although the choicer heifers went as high as 9%c, with several lots makâ€" ing better than 9%%c. Prices on butâ€" cher cows held steady at 5 to T%¢ and canners the same at 3‘%%c for most. Butcher bulls were no strongâ€" er at 6% to 7%%c. Bolognas went at $% to 5%¢, which was last week‘s price. It builds up health and supplies the nourish ment from which eggs are made. ‘ THE WM. SNIDER MILLING CO.
