The local hog market turned unsettled when packers bid on basis of $10.50 a ewt., f.0.b., for selects, or at $11.50 a owt., w.o.c. The asking price was a quarter higher or steady with the close of Thursday last. Some sales were reâ€" ported at both prices which gave the market a range of from $11.50 to $11.75 a cwt., w.o.c., for select hogs. Steers $9.50 to $10. A few choice to fancy steers sold steady at from $9.50 to $10 a cwt., but bids on the bulk were a quarter lower than last week‘s closing prices. Best handyweight killers ranged from $9 to $9.75 a cwt., with prime light butcher steers, under 1,000 lbs. weight, clearing at from $9 t6 $9.50 a cwt. Choice butcher heifers were a strong market at from $9.50 to $9.175 a cwt., and a small offering ofâ€"baby ibeef brought from $9.50 to $12 a owt. A run of lambs numbering 230 head all told, were for sale. Prices were mostly steady for the bulk with anything showing quality going at from $15 to $15.50 a ewt. Culls sold downward to 10c per Ib. Very few sheep were offered. Market prices were firm for sheep, mostly on the heavy side, at from $7 to $8.50 a ewit. Hog Prices Uneven. Cows were firm at the top for anyâ€" thing choice, but easier for the reâ€" mainder. A range of from $7.50 to $8 kosher type selling upward to $8.50 a owt. Canner cows mostly sold for $3.176 a cwt., and bologna ibulls were weighed out at from $6.50 to $7 a ewt. Good butcher bulls made $7.50 to $8 a cwt. Store cattle trade was inactive. Trading in milkers and springers was again dull with no buyers from Quebec points on the market. Best of a «mall offering was quotable «at from $100 to $110 each. Smail Lamb Offering. Toronto, March §.â€"Caitle receipts at the Union Stock Yards on Monâ€" day were approximately 700 head in excessâ€"of the supply received on Monday a week ago.
