The deceased had been seriously ill at her home here for many months and was recently removed to the home of her daughter at Grimsby, where she passed away last Thursâ€" day, in her 52nd year. The late Mre. Maecker was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Snyder and was born at Grimsby. She was married about 8 years ago to Mr. John Maecker and resided for some years at Preston, but for the past four years was an esteemed resident of New Hamburg. Besides her sorrowing husband, she leaves two daughters, of a former marriage, namely Mrs. Frank Hitchâ€" man of Grimsby, Mrs. John ‘ Chadâ€" wick of Toronto, and her aged faâ€" ther to mourn her demise. Her moâ€" ther predeceased her last February. The funeral was held from the home ‘of her sonâ€"inâ€"law, Queen‘s Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby. The service was conducted by Rev. Graham at the house and graveside. The funeral was largely attended and many florâ€" al tributes were sent by sorrowjng relatives and friends. ‘Mrs. David W. Wilhelm, Peel St. Seriously Injured In Auto Accident Mra. Herbert Huehn of this town was seriously injured last Thursday afternoon in a peculiar _ accident while motoring on the highway to Kitchener. She was riding with Mr. and Mrs. Milford Ruby also of this town, to Kitchener, and about three miles from the city she attempted to throw Mr. Ruby‘s cap from the rear seat to the front where Mr. Ruâ€" by was seated with his wife. The wind, however, carried the cap out of the car and before the driver brought the car to a stop, Mrs. Huchn had jumped off to reclaim the cap. In jumping she was thrown violently onto the pavement with the result that she suffered a fracture at the base of the skul. She was rushed to St. Mary‘s Hospital . at Kitchener, and at first it was feared that her injuries would prove fatal. We are glad to learn there is some improvement in her condition and good hopes for her recovery are now entertained. Personails. Mrs. W. The Eimira band is under the leadership of Mr. Herts and has a membership of about 35. An added feature of the evening‘s program were the voral solos by Messrs. Weichel and Ruppel. A large crowd of people were present and a collection of $33.00 was taken up, which goes into the coffers of the local musical organization. Paving Well Under Way _ Mr. Max Haum of Pittsburg, Pa., is spending a week with his mother, brother and sister in town. Mr. Wm. Loehr and daughter, Rdâ€" ua, Dolly and Rose, Mr. David Kip fer and son, Harry, spent an enâ€" joyable trip when they motored to Port Dover last Gunday. Miss Mabel Berger is spending a few days in Toronto. Band Concert Enjoyed The pouring of concrete for the new pavement on Peel street was started on Monday. The contractors, Messrs. Lichti Bros. brought their machinery here from Conestogo last week and were prepared to start here on Monday morning. With faâ€" vorable weather very good headway has been made so farâ€" The Conâ€" tractors started their work at Boul lies corner taking in halft of the roadway. On Wednesday evening they reached the corner at Roth‘s and are now busy putting in the other half of the pavement working ‘back forward the place of beginning. Under â€" favorable conditions they hope to have the whole stretch done by the end of this week. When this is completed the new extension of Peel Street through Mr. Christ. ‘Roths property will be paved after ‘whlch the cementing outfit will be moved onto Huron street to pave the remaining unpaved part of the street past the school hill. Mr. Wm. Huehn of Wilmot Centre has been engaged to put down the curbing on Peel street. This is being laid on top of the edge of the pavement proper while the concrete is stfill green and is made with steel re I inforcement.
