A reward of 25 cents, given him for good behaviour, and the affecâ€" tion ‘of his dog, combined to bring about the death of Walter Power, 4 years old, at Detroit on Sunday. Shortly after Walter accepted the reward, he went to his back yard to play, and Tearing his dog might take the monéey from him, he placed the coin in his mouth for safekeeping. As the child ran toward the dog the animal jumped up at him affecâ€" tionately, and in the excitement the coin started down the boy‘s throat and lodged. The child immediately was rushed to Evangelical Deaconâ€" ess Hospital Attempts were made to dislodge theâ€" money, but all efforts failed, and the lad died within a short time of suffocation. CLOCK TAKEN FROM f MARTIN‘S SCHOOL HOUSE On Wednesday night, Oct. 26th, the clock hanging on the wall of Martin‘s school house, north of Waterloo, was stolen. The next day the clock was discovered on the road leading to Martin‘s flats and it was badly damaged. Entry was gained by breaking a window. Motorists saw a man staggering along the road near the school house and it is thought he may have taken it while in a drunken condition. The clock had been in use at the school house for over fifty years. ~ ‘ Her children and friends pleasantâ€" ly surprised Mrs. Levi Mogk at her home in St. Clements recently, on the occasion of her birthday, making her the recipient of a toilet set. ___ .
