â€" MARKET REPORT | AUCTION SALE PAGE EIGHT Beef Prices Firm; Hogs Again Slip T head of the t:xh run was sold up to 2 o‘clock, with nothing left over from the first day‘s trading to obâ€" struct the buying movement. The market will be open as usual on Monday next, but in all probability a final clearance of the bulk of offerâ€" ings will be effected today and toâ€" morrow. Exporters were again â€" abâ€" sent from trading and the packers secured a small run of a dozen prime heavy steers at around $8.50 a hunâ€" dred. with $9.35 secured in indiâ€" vidual cases. Present indications rule that these prices will be passed before the advent of the hotâ€"weather season. Choice butcher steers yesâ€" terday moved between $8.25 to $8.65 a hundred, 40c per hundred higher than last Tuesday‘s top, with fair to good quality killers clearing at from $7.75 to $$.10 a hundred, and a few common grades weighed out at 7c per lb.. with nothing below this mark. Butcher cows continued firm, at $6.25 to $6.75 for the bulk of the: choice, with an odd fat kosher up to $7.25 a hundred. Fair quality cows mostly ranged between $5.25 to $6 a hundred. Fancy butcher bulls brought from $6 to $6.50a hundred, with mediums moving at from 5¢ to 5%c per lb. Baby beeves were generally unchanged in trend, two dozen changing hands within a price range of from $8.50 to $11.25 a hunâ€" dred. There was nothing doing in store cattle. Beef receipts were at about the same level as on Tuesday of last week. oice Butcher Grades Move Well at Retent Advances. Steady Tone for Calves The fresh run of calves was heavy for a Tuesday market, being about 460 head in excess of last week. The heavier run, however, sold fairly easily, with Buffalo buyers operatâ€" ing at prices which did not appear 80 _ "COSH!
