Reports from the farmers in this district that rain is needed very badly, the scattered showers we had the beginning of last week came in a good time but with the heat wave of the past week the ground is very dry again. The hay crop is very short while the wheat and rye is also short, but with a good rain it will soon come along. The spring crops look good but backward. With the roots, the early turnips came very poorly, a number of farmers having to plant a second time while others are already thinâ€" ning them. â€" Mostly all the farmers have their corn and potatoes planted and are gotting ground ready for buckwhent.
