Finan was senâ€" tenced to 15 years in the State prison upon the plea o‘ ruilty. Curiously, it took Finan some thing more than a year to get the Omaha police to investigate his story of the murder. In that time he wrote about 25 letters to the officers, telling them he had assistâ€" ed im the murder and that he was ready to plead guilty ‘before the court. ‘"Why did I confess?" says Finan, ‘‘Because that dead man used to come and sit on my ‘bed every night as soon as the lights were out. He never said a word to me, but just sat there and looked at me. I‘d have confessed if the Judge had given me 150 years instead of 15. He hasn‘t been back a single night since I pleaded guilty.
