He arrived in Berlin years ago and has resided here ever since, conducting a tailoring busiâ€" ness. He was twice married and is survived by a widow, who is dangetrâ€" ously ill, and one son, Fred. byâ€" the first marriage and two children by <the second marriage, James C. of Berlin, and Mrs. Fred Mahn, of Galt. The deceased was an industrious man and his death will be regretted by a wide circle of friends. The funetal was held on Saturâ€" day aiternoon at 2 u‘ciock from the residence. 61 Weber street, cast, ‘to the Benton _ street Baptist Caurch, and from thence to Mount Hope cemeâ€" tery. Another aged resident of Berlin passed away on Thursday afternoon at 1.30 o‘clock at the Berlinâ€"~Waterloo Hospital in the person of Mr. Jokn Jaimet, the wellâ€"known _ tailor on Weber strect. Tho deceased has been in illâ€"health for some time and was removed to the Hospital about two weeks ago. _ Iic passed peacefully away surrounded by the members of his family. ' MBR. J. JAIMET The funeral | tovk place on Sunâ€" Gay â€" afternuun at 3.30 o‘clock from the residence to Mount Hope Cemeâ€" in Vaughn Township, York County, in 1837 and was m her 74th year. She came to Berlin when she was seven years of age and has resided here evâ€" er osince. lHer father, the lage Geo. Iloward, was turnkey of the county jail for a quarter of a century. ‘She was married to the late Mr. Gauntâ€" ley in Galt and the union was blessed with _ eight â€"chitdres two of _ whom died in infancy. Those surviving are Herbert, town, Miss Mary, at home, and Austin, Northwest. The deceasâ€" ced was well and favorably known in Berlin and vicinity and the bereaved family will have the sympathy of a wide _ circle of friends. During her . lingering illness she never murmured and was cheerful and bright until the last. One _ of Berlin‘s oldest residents, Mrs. Rachael Howard, relict of _ the late _ Heury Gaunticy, passed peaceâ€" fully away Thursday morning at her _ residence on Foundry strect, north. The deceased had been in illâ€" health for many years but bas only been _ confined to her bed for a â€" few weeks. Her demise wes not un>xpecâ€" ted and she was conscious to the last moment. ASED RESIDENT PASSEDU AWAY ON THURSDAY During the short business meeting which preceded the addresses, the ofâ€" ficers of 1910 were unanimously _ reâ€" elected for 1911. Although last year Berlin gave 878: towards this great and glorious work ‘ there is room for improvement. A vote of thanks, moved by Mr. R. Smyth, and seconded by Mr. E. P. Pequegnat‘s name was the only one submitted to the meeting, Messts Sattler, _ Honsberger, â€" Bitzer and Huchnergard voting in his favor. The question of what saltx should be paid was deferred until the next meeting. Mr. Pequegnat was calle@ in and notified of his appointment by the Chairman. The Secretary thanked the members for the confidence expressed in electing him to the important ofâ€" fice and then assumed his new dutics. Representative on Library Board. The appointment of a representative to the Library Board was the nert order of business and_two names were proposed, Messts. D. Forsyth andE. G. Stuebing. The former secured the majority of the votes and will again represent the educational interests on that body for the next three years. fice must be made by the elective potâ€" tion of the Board. Chairman Reid suggested that a Secretaryâ€"Treasurer be appointed proâ€"temâ€"until the next tregular meeting of the Board. The majority,. of members favored making the appointment at this meeting and Mr. Sattlier proposed that Mr. Edâ€" mund Pequegnat be appointed to the office. Mr. Bitzer seconded the â€" moâ€" tion fer the appointment of a Sectetaryâ€" Treasurer until the County and Separateâ€" School representatives are appointed. The School Act, however, provides that all appointments to ofâ€" There was a disposition on the part of some of the members to deâ€" 1911. Mr. Sattlet proposed that Dr. Hett be appointed to the office and was supported by Mr. Pequegnat. On a vote being taken Mr. Pequegâ€" nat had a majority in his favor and the office went to him. h Dr. Honsberger moved and Mr. zer seconded the resolution that Pequegnat be the viceâ€"Chairman teacher‘s staff when the new school is completed. _ The question of techâ€" nical education at the Collegiate Inâ€" stitute would also receive attention. Berlin has been fortunate in this reâ€" spect in the past, but as this is an important industrial centre the aim of the Board should be to kesp Berâ€" lin _ in _ the â€" lead.
