FIRE ALARM SYSTEM IN BERLIN SCHOOLS. At the Central School there are seven exits and all of them are used in order to allow the children to get out of the building quickly. There were over 500 pupils in attendance on Friday, and all of them were out: of the school in 72 seconds, the same time it took . the King. Edward sSchool pupils in the motning. At the _ Margare! Avenue School there were 365 pupils gnd they were out of their school in 54 â€"seconds. The Courtland Avenue School. beat the reâ€" ing 1905, and to raise $30,000 . to vord when 380 scholars performed the drill in 50 seconds. * af Fire Chief Howard inspected /the Berlin C. He regrets to report, however, that thete are no fire escapes of any kind on or about the building. Otherwise it is the most complete structure in Ontario. He found there is no _ fire drill in practice. The Chief also inspected the" King Edward School and found ho fire esâ€" capes of any kind. He was informedl they have a regular fire drill during the summer months. He gave an alarm of fire without the knowledre of pupils or teachers and in exactly one minute and {welve seconds the scholars were out â€" of the buiiding. The teachers of . the King Idward School are to he highly commended for the extraordinary coolness . and good judgment that was shown in linâ€" ing up the scholars in an alirm rf fire.
