LIFE ANNUAL MEETâ€" : ING. The â€" Mutual Life Assurance Comâ€" pany â€" of Canada held its apnual mevting at tne head ofhce, Thursday afternoon. The . reporis_submitted showed the company to be in a gratâ€" ifying conditioy in every respect. The most nuli(‘l'ah“ feature perhaps, of the business, was the abtiormally low @«cath rate, the lowest in the history of the company. This rate was even below that of the abstainers section, a very remarkable showing indeed. A steady gain was also made in the business of the company over that. of the pretious year, 1903, which will enable them to again add considerâ€" ably to the surplus, which is now the largest of any company whose report has been issued. Another point wor thy of note was the decrease in the expense in propottion to the. income. The four retiring directors were reâ€" clected, namely: Sir Wilftid Lautiet, UHon. M«. Justice Gatrow, Mr. A. Hoskins, K. €., and Mr. E. P. Cle ment, K. C. The officers, staf‘ and agents, and Manager Wegenast, who so ably directed their efforts, are to be congratulated on the splendid showing made by the company. TIALS. The game between the Royal Canâ€" adians and Insurance tcams Tuesday evening is not calculated fo ‘inspire much enthusiasm in the game. The ice was soft and prevented much comâ€" bination work. The Insurance team by no means won the game on their merits and should have been beaten. The score at the close was 4â€"3 in favor of the Insurance men.
