HELLER. â€" At Waterloo, Aug. 17, to Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Heller, a daughter. y s The excursion of the Elmira M. S. band to Niagara Falls on Saturday was a decided success, and a large number of Waterloo people took adâ€" vantage of the cheap rates. The train, which stopped at intervening stations, did not reach there until afâ€" ter twelve o‘clock. In spite of the rain, which made it somewhat disâ€" agrecable for the excursionists, a good time was spent by everybody. An elegant new restaurant with spaâ€" cious verandahs overlooking the falls, which is just being completed, added greatly to the ecnjoyment. From it can be seen the falls in all their glory and it is a delightful place for lunchâ€" ing. It was also very interestlig to watch the building of the new power houses, which ate now being erected there. Nearly five thousand men are engaged in the work by the different companies, night and day. The work is very dangerous and nineteen men have lost their lives by being swept over the falls. Masons are paid as high as seven dollars per day. On the trip to Chippewa may be seen an immense water pipe which is filtyâ€" eight feet in diameter. Through this water will be directed to :un the power houses. It is very interesting to see the way in which they handle the huge masses of rock which are. constantly being removed.
