Mr. Cofhmut held a church service here some time ago. The following obituary notice of a lady formerly well known in this county we reprint from the local paper of Whatcom, Washington Territory,U. S: Mrs. Mary Bowman, whose death was announced on Saturday morning at the home ot her daughter, Mrs.) .M.Griltith at 1312 ll street, was born in Bucks county, Ps, March 6, 1815, and was consequently nearly 86 1-2 years old. Her maiden name was Clemens. Her family, with many others, removed to Canada when she was 12 years old, forming a large Pennsylvania settle- ment in Waterloo county,Untario. The i Bowmans from Berks, Pennsylvania, I had prtsvioutsly settled in the sums neighborhood and a few years later Mary Clemens became the wife of Rev. B. B. Bowman, the youngest of a large family, who died in 1872. Their family consisted of four sons and seven daugh- ters, of whom one son and four daugh- ters survive. She was the mother of Amos Bowman, the founder of Anacor- tee, and Mrs. Wolfe, whose husband was the pioneer Congregational minis- ter of Whatcom and built the church on F street. Mrs. Bowman came to Whateom in 1883 and became a char- tered member of the new church, where she has since held her membership. Her increasing infirmitie had ren- dered her totally helpless for a year and nine months before death came to her relief, when aha calmly and peace- fully went meleep in the firm confidence and hope of a blissful immortality.
