By the time assistance arrived the fire bad made such headway that it was inexâ€" tinguishable. It is supposed a knight of the footpath was the cause of the ignition. The property was insured in the Farmers‘ Mutual....One of our farmers informs us that be raised grassâ€" hoppers this winte» so as to have» a good supply for next summer as they were somewhat deficient last year. Last fall he fetched some ground from a. swamp for the purpose of planting flowâ€". er plants therein. Then he placed these on a window sill where the rays of the sun could find access and at the same time a fire was kept in the room. So one dayâ€"our friend thought his plants were copiously decorated with li1ce and accordingly he decided to feed them a dose of some noxious food,. When i.e was thus ready to feed them a day or two afterwards, be found that these parasitic insects hbad grown to such a size that our: nomenclator then called them grasshoppers. ... Amongst other things the paying for milk by the Babcock test came in for discussion and when put to the meetâ€" ing it was ouly defea‘ed by one. The D. Chalmers was reappointed. ‘The milkâ€"hauling was let by auction at a certain rate on the 100 lbs. cheese and néarly every route had keen competiâ€" tion. Mr. J. R. Yost scted as aucâ€" tioneer and played bis part wcll and without partiality. A strong feeling for a creamery to be run spring and fall in connection with the factory is quite manifest, and in fact the sooner a move be takon in that direction the better for much more butter can be taken from the milk at such establish ments, than by ordinary farm proâ€" casses. f committee for the coming }ear are Niessrs.
