Description
This is a handwritten biography of George Killer from the Ellis Little Papers. This biography has been transcribed exactly as written. Ellis Little was a local historian, who was the principal of Elizabeth Ziegler Public School. On his retirement, he invested much of his time in researching and writing about Waterloo's history. The Ellis Little Papers consist of extensive notes, papers and historical works.

George was another son of Nicholas Killer. When he grew up he helped his father in the Killer Hardware (later Weichel Hardware) on King St S. About 1890 he became involved in the formation of the Schaefer- Killer Furniture Company, located in the old Wegenast Cabinet Factory on King S and Allen Streets. In 1901 this firm became part of the Canada Furniture Company. He became for a short time a partner in 1904 Valentine-Killer Shoe Factory located on Bridgeport Rd. After leaving here, he went on to organize the Western Shoe Company in Berlin and was its manager until his retirement a few years before his death in 1928.
