Edgar Fischer was the son of meat market owner J.B. Fischer. Edgar learned the trade of butchering while helping in his father’s shop on King St. N. In 1918 Edgar purchased his father’s business upon the latter’s retirement. In 1921 Fischer again renovated the store that had been a meat shop for the last 50 years. In 1935 the shop was sold by Edgar to Eugene Gatschene and Arthur Bringloe who had been employees in the store for a number of years. Edgar lived with his wife Elizabeth Boehler on Victoria St. (now Avondale) where he died in 1944 at the age of 68.
