This picture shows all of the winners and runner-ups from the 1979 Western Tournament.

The Western Ontario Open Tennis Championship (The Western) originated in 1914 and was considered a high level tournament attracting players from all over Canada and the United States. In 1939 Waterloo won the bid to hold the tournament. The tournament was held at the Waterloo Tennis Club again in 1954, then from 1963-1988, with the exception of 1971 and 1977.
