- This photo shows Marten Johnston sweeping the lines on the tennis court for the Western Ontario Open Championship in 1979. Waterloo hosted the Western almost every year from 1963 to 1982.
The additional illustrations accompany the photo in the original collection.
Marten Johnston was a longtime club member, playing competitively, as well as having many other roles. Johnston was originally hired by the club to be the tennis coordinator, and became the maintenance manager, desk staff and the tennis development coordinator during his years of employment (1986-2009).
