My Grandfather, Jacob Uffelmann, was Mayor of Waterloo in 1904. The next year he ran again, and his platform was to amalgamate Kitchener and Waterloo and he lost the election. Now, I see, it has been brought forth again. Should be interesting as it was told to me that it was the citizens of Waterloo who did not want to amalgamate.
