- Photograph of William Bell holding a tuba formally dressed in white bow tie, shirt and black tuxedo. The July 2, 1948 edition of the Waterloo Chronicle indicates that William Bell led the New York Symphony and was the first tuba soloist at the Waterloo Band Festival in 1948. William Bell was also a regular visitor to the Waterloo band clinics.

- William Bell was the premier tuba player and teacher of tuba in America during the first half of the 20th century. He was born in 1902 and died in 1971.
