- Charles F. Thiele is shown with the first girls' band in the United States he organized in Rumford, Maine where the family lived for 7-8 years in the early 1900s. He also organized a boy's band of 101 members. At far right, front row, is his wife Louise, and third from right, front row, is their daughter, Caroline. Mr. Thiele is seated in the front row.
- Notes
- Thiele was bandmaster of the Waterloo Musical Society Band between 1919 and 1949. He died in February of 1954.
