- Description
- View of three fire fighters spraying water on the fire at St. John's Lutheran church. Note the shell of the church with flames coming from the top and out the windows, with thick smoke.
- Notes
- The original wood frame church building was built at King Street and Bridgeport Road (formerly Cedar and Laurel Street) and was constructed in 1837. The structure was torn down and the land sold to the federal government in 1882, and a second larger, brick church was constructed. This second building was destroyed by fire on November 2, 1959, and another church built on Willow Street between 1961 and 1962.
