Description
Postcard of interior of first Berlin Public Library building (later Kitchener Public Library) at Queen and Weber Streets. Note the woodwork, electric globe lighting and newspaper racks.
Notes
Library established in town hall in 1884. In 1897 a lot was purchased at Queen and Weber Streets and a grant was obtained from the Carnegie Foundation in 1902, the building erected in 1903 and opened in January 1904.
In May of 1962 a larger library was built at 85 Queen Street north.
Berlin became Kitchener in 1916.
