- Description
- Tintype of woman in formal dress with lace and ruffles at sleeves and throat and hat with a feather in it. She is holding a fan.
- Notes
- Tintypes were patented in 1854 and were commonplace for decades. Before the carte de visite, they were the only alternative to more expensive types of photographs. In the 1890s they were popular as a quick and inexpensive image, but their use waned in the early 1900s.
