Description
Head and shoulders portrait of Rudolph Roschman, brother and partner to Richard Roschman of the Roschman and Brother Button Factory.
Notes
The Roschman and Brother Button Company started in 1878 as Roschman and Bowman, founded by Richard Roschman and Daniel Bowman. Rudolph Roschman immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1881, working as a labourer in the factory, becoming a book-keeper and in 1884 a partner and the company name changed to Roschman and Brother. The factory was built in 1886 at 25 Queen (later Regina) Street south. Changes in the button industry led to the closing of the factory in the mid 1940s. Rudolph Roschman died in 1951.
