Description
Exterior of the first Waterloo City Hall (formerly the Town Hall). Also contained the Mechanic's Institute (the first library).
Notes
The first Town (later City) Hall was built at the corner of Albert and Erb Streets in 1874. The main floor contained the municipal offices and the library, the basement housed the market stalls. The city offices moved in 1961 and the building was demolished in 1969. The 1874 date stone can be viewed in the lobby of the Marsland Centre.
