- Notes
- On June 15, 1933, a six foot high wooden cross dedicated to the Waterloo men who died in World War I was erected on the grounds of the Central School. In 1938, the bandshell donated by Joseph E. Seagram, which stood in front of the town hall at the corner of Albert and Erb streets, was moved to the Civic Park farther west on Erb Street. It was torn down in 1938, and at this time the wooden cross was moved to this vacated area, and the parcel of land became known as Memorial Park. In 1957, money was raised for the purchase and erection of an eighteen foot high granite cenotaph which replaced the wooden cross. In 1992, the cenotaph was moved near City Hall on Regina Street.
