- Horse-drawn conestoga wagon arriving at Doon Memorial Tower in Kitchener after travelling from Lancaster, Pennsylvania to commemorate the 155th anniversary of Mennonites from Lancaster settling in Waterloo County. To the left is a 1914 car and four police in historic uniforms provided by city of Kitchener as an escort for the wagon in Waterloo County.
- Notes
- The Doon Memorial Tower was erected on an acre of land located on the old Betzner homestead, chosen partly because of the existence there of an old graveyard. It was built by the Waterloo County Pioneers' Memorial Association formed in 1923 as a tribute to the early Mennonite settlers of the area. The monument is constructed of field stones in a Swiss style to commemorate the Switzerland heritage of many of these families.
