- Notes
- In 1891, Uffelmann purchased the store of John Shuh and Snider, located at 10 King Street South. Uffelmann later purchased Ontario Seed Company, located at 16 King Street South.
The 1897-1899 Directory lists "J. Uffelman gen'l merchant" as five businesses from Erb Street, directly to the right of "J.E. Seagram liquors." There were no street numbers at that time.
In the 1895 election, Uffelmann was first elected to town council. He again became an alderman in the 1902 and 1903 elections. As mayor in 1904, Uffelmann led council in its decision to raise money to encourage the construction of a railway line from Waterloo to Wellesley.
