- St. Louis congregation began in 1889 when Waterloo Catholics petitioned Reverend Louis Funcken of St. Mary's Church, Berlin (Kitchener) for a Catholic church in Waterloo. The church building at 53 Allen street east was dedicated on January 6, 1891.
