- Description
- "Clayton was a renowned violin player and traveled to many communities with the Circle Six Orchestra playing for dances and gatherings during the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Clayton was also an accomplished piano and clarinet player. He also loved playing his violin for his Mohawk people at Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. He would get out his violin and play in homes or the old council house for square dancing and step dancing and there was always a lot of laughter and good food. He played for his family, grandchildren and friends until Parkinson's disease stilled his violin forever.
He passed on his gift for music to his son Clifford, grandson Kio' (Mike), granddaughter Karen and great granddaughter Cassandra who all either play guitar, piano or have beautiful singing voices.
I was proud to say I was his daughter, when no matter where I went everyone asked if I was related to Clayton John. "
