Cul- prit(s) broke in by removing a piece of plywood off the rear door of the shed. Removed from the shed was a black 200 amp battery charger, a. blue/green Delta bench grinder, and a Tenaka weed trimmer. Value of these items total approximately $750. Terrace Bay considering switch to propane In an effort to save money on its fuel costs, Terrace Bay is looking into converting all of its vehicles to run on either just propane, or on propane and gasoline. The company will give their opin- ion on whether or not it would be worthwhile to convert some of the townships older vehi- cles, since they may be replaced soon. They will also provide information on the price per litre of propane, the cost of installing the propane tank to fill the vehicles, etc. If they decide to convert to natural gas, the township would purchase propane con- version kits for their gasoline- powered vehicles. Township Engineer Mikko- nen says it would be particular- ly cost-effective for the Terrace Bay Police's vehicles, since they run 24 hours a day. He also said that if they do decide to go with propane, in the future they would probably buy vehicles already equipped to run on natural gas. Terrace Bay Police statistics In August and September, the Terrace Bay Police Ser- vices investigated a total of 219 occurrences, including 63 reports of bear sightings. They laid 144 traffic-related charges, including 117 in August alone. The Terrace Bay Police reported 704 total occurrences to the end of September for - 1992, compared with 883 at the same point last year. Other statistics for August and September include 18 cases of welfare assistance, two impaired driving charges, lower level. Its purpose is to establish plans to assist employees and their families in making an effective transition from employment with Winston Lake, during the future downsizing and closure of the mine, which is now scheduled for 1997. The chairperson will assist the committee in meeting its mandate by guiding and facilitating committee activities. This will involve the chairing of regular and special committee meetings held at the mine site, monitoring of committee expenditures and the preparation of a final committee report. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in a resource industry, and will have a proven ability to lead and direct a diverse group of individuals towards common objectives. The candidate must bring to the position a high level of commitment and have the time available to ensure that the committee achieves the best possible results.
