They are an excellent choice for seniors or families without children. Some can adjust to children, such as the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, English Toy Spaniel, Pug, Griffon (Brussels) and Yorkshire, if they are purchased as a pup and grow with the children. But it is wise to buy these dogs only if your children are older due to their small size. It is hard to explain to a three year old that they can- not pick up these dogs like they would a doll. The other breeds in this group are; Affenpinsher, Chihuahua (long and short coat), Italian Greyhound, Japanese Spaniel, Maltese, Mexican Hairless, Papillon, Pekingese, Miniature Pinscher, Pomeranian, Poodle(toy), Silky Terrier and Toy Manchester Terrier. Even with their small size these dogs have great spirit and can give you. many hours of love and joy. Group 6, the Non-sporting dogs, were all bred for different reasons and do not fit into any particular category. They are Bichon Frise, Boston Terrier, bulldog, Chow-Chow, Dalmation, French Bulldog, Keeshond, Lhasa Apso, Poodle (Miniature), Poodle (standard), Schipperke, Shih Tzu, Tibetan Spaniel and Tibetan Terrier. The Bichon has become a popular pet because of it's cheerful personality and size. Their coats need quite a bit of grooming and attention to keep them in top condition. The Boston is a small dog developed in the United States that has minimal grooming and exercise, making it an ideal pet for seniors. strangers. Regular exercise is needed for this breed. The Dalmation is familiar to every one. He was a mascot for years of the fire brigade, and was used to locate and rescue fire victims. His coat is short and needs little grooming but they do need plenty of exercise. The French Bulldog, developed in France, is a quiet and well mannered dog as well as being an excellent watch dog. The Keeshound, a member of the Spitz fami- ly, is a loyal, protective and powerful dog. He needs regular exercise and grooming. The Lhasa Apso and the Shih Tzu were developed in Tibet. both breeds need daily grooming and make fine city pets. The Standard Poodle, the oldest of the three poodle breeds, was developed as a retriever of waterfowl and later used as a circus performer. With his well mannered demeanour, clean habits, non-shedding coat, and desire to please but with discipline will make a fine family pet as well. The Schipperke, a bright, alert, and curious breed, are excellent with children and are very playful and loyal. If you would like an oriental breed without the grooming work then the Tibetan Spaniel should be your choice. He is a small active dog who would suit any household. The last dog in this group is the Tibetan Terrier. He is not a true terrier since he does not go to ground for his quarry, but may have been used to guard sheep. They were a holy dog and considered a sym- bol of good luck. They are sturdy and compact dogs with regular brushing required. AS q DXA | ae AB / NA M Win $25.00 the brochure.
