Page 11, News, Tuesday, April 2, 1991 Northern Ontario Business Awards essay competition seeking entries Students in Northern Ontario are being asked to hone their writing skills and start thinking about their future, to compete in an essay competition worth $3,000 in scholarship money. The competition, sponsored by . Central==Gas .<and administered through the Northern Ontario Business Awards, is open to English and French senior high school students in Northern Ontario. "We are trying to afford youth an opportunity to think about business (and) provide them with the opportunity to write about it," said Marlene Moore, executive director of the Northern Ontario Business Awards. The essay competition encourages young people to think about business, to consider entrepreneurship as a career and to take a risk, said Moore. "Young people are our future leaders" and they should be encouraged to follow their dreams, she said. "The winner of the essay competition will be honored alongside major players in Northern Ontario," who have probably worked for years to acquire their business savvy. "The competition provides an educational experience in itself", said Moore. Students who wish to enter the essay competition have to be in Grade 12 or be seniors taking Ontario Academic Credit courses. Although the competition is open to French and English high school students, there will only be one winner, regardless of language, said Moore.
