Mon Cherie is a family busi- ness managed by Albert Costa along with part-time help from his wife Darlene and his children Suzee, James and Cherie. Albert, originally from Schreiber decided to become a hairdresser after a 1986 injury at the mill prevented him from returning to work. At first when a friend suggest- ed the idea of Albert becoming a hairdresser, he laughed. After thinking about it Albert decided it wasn't such a bad idea after all and he should go for it. Albert Costa graduated from Nu Wave School of Hair Design in Thunder Bay on April 19, 1990. When asked how he enjoys his profession now, he says he loves it. Mon Cherie offers a variety of services including hair cuts, bar- bering, shaves, bearding, colors, Streaks, perms, ear piercing, and waxing. CONCEALS AS IT HEALS System Albert mentioned that he has ordered a hair extension kit for his shop. There are a variety of hair care products for sale including sham- poo, spray, treatment and mousse. Make up is also sold and Albert hopes to soon have curling irons, blow dryers, jewellery and accessories available. Albert will be travelling to Chicago this fall and next spring for a week of training on the lat- est styles. He wants to keep upgrading as new styles come up often and he wants to keep up with the times. Mon Cherie will offer the only barbering services for the Schreiber / Terrace Bay area. Albert commented, "I've been talking of opening a part-time shop in Rossport to serve that community. Also I would like to get a tanning machine, but that's at least a year down the road." Albert also mentioned that with Mon Cherie, "I'm trying to create a full beauty centre."
