She is presently on her cross- Canada Body Rock tour with recording artists Regatta. The 5 week long tour started in Toronto and is moving west to the coast, then back to the north- ern area of Toronto. The "all-ages" crowd came to hear Lee sing hits such as: "Hands on", "Sweet Talk", and one of the obvious favorites "Whatcha Do To My Body" from her 1989 released Body Rock album. Lee also sang hits from previ- ous albums such as: "Only Human," "Rock Candy" and "Metal Queen" while putting on a great stage show. The Lee Aaron touring: band consists of John Albani (guitar); Kimio Oki (drums); Chaz Rotunda (bass); and Greg Doyle (guitar). About 10 policemen were on hand for security but the local crowd was well behaved. "There were 5 alcohol charges and one narcotics charge," stated Schreiber OPP Sgt. Templar. In a recent interview, prior to the concert I had a chance to ask Lee Aaron a few questions: Where were you born? "Belleville, Ontario" What kind of music do you lis- ten to? "When I was younger I lis- tened mostly to hard rock, but now I listen to everything from Peter Gabriel to Metallica." Who were your musical influ- ences? "As a teen I really liked Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and Janis Joplin. I also loved Motown and Dianna Ross." How does it feel to be a sex symbol? "I don't think of myself as a sex symbol. Every performer gives off a certain sexuality, some people might not find me sexy." How did you get started in the music business? "I've loved music all my life. In school I was in theatre, jazz band, choir. I graduated with good marks. I've always been a real achiever." What kind of jobs did you have before becoming a singer? "I had a few odd jobs before I began singing professionally at 17. I worked as a restaurant host- ess and a day camp.counselor." How does if feel to be recog- nized? "At first I found it a little unnerving. I don't feel I'm a big enough star to disguise myself. When I go to the grocery store I usually where my hair in a pony- tail but people still recognize me." Where did you record Body Rock? "We recorded at Phase One Studios in Toronto. utable studio." It's a rep- Why Schreiber? "Schreiber was-on our routing and the promoter offered the money, so why not? The local police force was at the Schreiber Arena on April 30th for security. This didn't stop them from taking a little time out after the concert to pose with Lee Aaron.
