Wednesday,February 21, 1990 TERRACE BAY/SCHREIBER NEWS Bantam lournament by Angie Saunders The Schreiber Invitational Tournament took place over the weekend of February 10- 11th. Taking 1st place was the Thunder Bay Volunteer Pool Bobcats against the Schreiber Kings 5- 4. Also competing in the tournament were the Thunder Bay Canadians and the Nipigon Elks. The championship game was lose between the Volunteer Pool and the Kings. Schreiber scored a voal in the last 6 minutes of the third period making the score 1 point short of a tic. Schreiber goalie Tim McParland was pulled in the last few minutes to give the Kings an extra man advantage but they failed to score. The Volunteer Pool kept their 5- 4 lead to win 1st place in the tour- Schreiber Library News Story hour for children has resumed with the 3-5 year olds coming Monday from 2-3 p.m. and the 6-10 year olds coming on Sarurday from 2-3. The Women's Drop-In pro- gram runs every Tuesday from 1:30-3:00. A great place to meet old and new friends, learn a new craft or sit and chat. The elementary school stu- dents in the community were invited to enter a Valentine's Day Contest 'Create Your Own Valentine'. Many beautiful cards were entered and the judges were D. Beno Insurance,Schreiber Town Office staff and the offices of Community Corrections, Child Development, Outreach and Literacy programmes. Winners: Grade k-2 Dylon Doyon - Grade 1 ato Holy Angel's, Grade 3-5 Lesley Pellegrino - Grade 5 at Holy Angel's, Grade 6-8 Marlene Ginlayson - Grade 7 at Holy Angel's. Each winner received a book - congratulations! In addition to our regular hours we are now open Thursday evening from 7-9. A monster book sale will be held in the library Saturday, February 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Paperbacks will sell for 10 cents and hardcovers for 25 cents. A miscellaneous table will be featured. The children's area now has new book shelves painted in bright bold colors and built to a child's height. Individual awards of the tour- nament went to: Top Defense- #99 Dwayne Courtemanche of Schreiber Kings, Top Goaltender- #4 Desi Maidment of the Nipigon Elks, and Most Valuable Player- #17 Vince Pasqualino, center for Schreiber Kings. The coaches for the Schreiber Kings are Bert Logan and Joey Speziale. Traincrs are Dale Ross and Peter Speziale.
