Aldea Churney has been head of the emergency department since it was first created in 1980. Her title of emergency and oper- ating room supervising nurse means she oversees much of the work that takes place in the emer- gency department as well as the operating room. Chumey works the day shift at McCausland's emergency depart- ment but while she is not at work, two registered nurses and one registered nurses assistant work the floor of the hospital and also take care of the emergency department. Chumey said one doctor is on call at all times to cover emergen- cies and added that if it's a real emergency and the doctor on call is in Schreiber, she won't hesitate to call one of the doctors in Terrace Bay to come in to handle the situation.
