Wednesday, October 4, 1989 TERRACE BAY/SCHREIBER NEWS Page 5 There's a cruise for A word of caution to every price and port Thunder Bay shoppers By Joe Mykietyn How many of you have thought about a cruise only to dismiss the idea outright as being too expensive? Well, if you demand top value for your dollar, like to see inter- esting and exciting places, enjoy excellent cuisine, have top enter- tainment, be catered to your every whim or just simply relax and take in the scenery, then a cruise is for you. Cruises are offered to every corner of the world, from Alaska to Yugoslavia, up, down, around and through every continent - on large SS ships down to river boats and hovercrafts. They can be as short as three days, to the "once in a lifetime" world cruis- es of 80 days. An average cruise is seven days, usually visiting at least . four ports of call. In the cost of a cruise, your airfare from a major city to your destination and back is included, along with a catego- ry type cabin ranging from upper and lower bunks to twin beds to spacious suites, up to eight meals a day including a midnight buf- fet, on-board entertainment and all port and airport taxes that are applicable. Travelling on a cruise ship is like having the best of two vaca- tions in one. With a new port of call each day or every other day, you can go ashore and explore. either on your own or with one of the ships shore excursions. These are first rate in that they have excellent guides and usual- ly a wide range of sites to visit. If your one who enjoys great tasting meals of a wide variety, you've picked the right trip. Cruise ship dining is legendary. From morning till night the very best is offered in a wide range of dishes and deserts from fluffy omelettes to filet mignon to banana's flambe and at all times the service is superb. But, if that isn't enough, there is a midnight buffet that caps off every evening as a true feast for all senses. But what would a cruise be without entertainment. On most cruise lines the performances showcase professional singers and dancers from all over' the world. There are also Captain's "welcome aboard parties, mas- querade and singles parties, romantic dancing and fast paced casino excitement, and if you just want to watch a first rate movie that can.be arranged also. So, you ask, what is all this going to cost? To be honest each . cruise line has different prices, but an average or approximate cost for seven days cruising would range from $1,000 to $3,000 per person depending on type of cabin and cruise line. What are some of the cruise lines? Carnival, Holland America, Norweign, Princess, REgents, Sitmar, and Royal Caribbean are some of the more popular to name a few. Cruising is affordable and enjoyable....in fact, we had so much fun in 1985 on a Regent's Caribbean cruise we are going again in 1990 on Carnival Cruise Lines with different ports of call from our first -cruise...after all, there's nothing like two holidays for the price of one. N.B. All new cruise brochures are arriving for winter/spring '89/'90 with a wide variety to choose from...just give me a call if you have any questions or , inquiries. We need a place where we can pick up our parcels anytime of day or mail them out at a time convenient to us. We need a bus stop that can give us all these things and more. There is a place available for all your needs and more, so what's the problem? The problem is as citizens of this town you need to express your feeling towards this bus stop situation and your concerns of having the bus stop changed to 4 new location. So come on, feel free to voice your opinions on this matter. The bus stop is a convenience for all of us citizens, not just for the Jays move on to play Continued from page 4 the A's Once again, in dramatic fashion, they rallied together to bring home three runs. A three up, three down top of the ninth secured the Jays position as American League East Champions. Toronto will now meet the Oakland A's and with the playoffs beginning Tuesday night, there still is some question as to the chances the Jays have of moving on to the World Series. Their defence, starting pitchers and relief pitchers seem to be in good shape and injuries aren't a problem now either. But hits are what the Jays need now. They've got to come out of their slump and bring to life their comatose bats. The Jays are hitting significantly below the .200 mark as .a team for the month of September which is not going to be good enough to win either the American League or the World Series. They've been somewhat lucky lately by getting the few hits they have got at timely moments, but now is the time to pull it together. Let's hope they can. It would be nice to see them make it to the World Series, as they should have in 1985. 'It would-be even nicer to see them take it all. and win | their first World Series. ones who operate it. Hope to hear from you. A Concerned Citizen, Dorothy Plourde Dear Editor: The following letter has been sent to the Thunder Bay Parking Authority concerning a ticket I recently received. To Whomever is in charge: Enclosed is a money order for $8.00 to cover this fine. © I would like to Ict you know though that I did not know on weekends money had to go in the parking meters. I knew Monday to Friday I would have to pay to park on the street, but I really think a lot of people don't realize they must pay for parking on Saturday and it should be publicized in a paper or somewhere to remind people once in a while. I don't think it's fair that I have 3inl OPEN HOUSE * Tupperware * Nygard Clothing * Tri-Chem Sunday, October 8th 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. 101 Manitoba St., Schreiber EVERYONE WELCOME Coffee & Tea Served to "Pay in Person" to get the fine of $5.00 instead of $8.00. I don't live in Thunder Bay and received the ticket on Saturday and the office to pay this fine is only open Monday to Friday. I would have paid the fine "In Person" on Saturday but there was no place to do so. You should have someplace for people to pay on Saturday if you're. fining people on Saturday because I'm sure many people who do not live in Thunder Bay get tickets on Saturdays and therefore, they must automatical- ly have to pay the $8.00 fine. So, you Saturday Thunder Bay shoppers, "Don't forget the park- ing meters or they will getcha."
