All club skaters received crests indicating levels of achievement and indi- vidual ribbons for skills acquired during the 88/89 season. The marriage will take place on August 18, 1989 in Thunder Bay. upset with parks policy Frustrated by the Ministry of Natural Resources' refusal to identify the impact of the new Ontario parks policy on forestry, mining and tourism, or to permit any public input prior to imple- mentation, the Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce have requested the Minister of the Environment to subject the new parks policies to review under the Environmental Assessment Act. NOACC's brief to the minister states that the new policies may have significant negative social and economic impacts on the res- idents and businesses of Northern Criminal Court Criminal Court was held at the Legion Hall in Schreiber on June 28 with Judge Ray Walneck pre- siding. A trial was held for Darcy G. Bain of Rossport for Impaired Driving. A judgement will be handed out by Judge Walneck at August 23, 1989 court. A Bench Warrant was issued for Kenneth Churney who failed Ontario but that the MNR has not yet looked into these possible effects. Arguing that there is no com- pelling or urgent reason to imple- ment these new policies immedi- ately, and that the policies would inevitably improve as a result of public input under the Neutral and Comprehensive Planning Process available under the Environmental Assessment Act, NOACC has asked the Minister of the Environment to declare the new parks policies a major under- taking by the MNR, and to order the implementation of the new policies to be suspended until an to appear for his charge of Fail to Provide Breath Sample. He was given a $500.00 fine and placed on pro- bation for one year. Isadore Ray pled guilty to a charge of Assault Police. He was fined $250.00 and placed on pro- bation for one year. During the year Ray is to abstain from alco- hol. A trial was held for Steve G. Balsor of Terrace Bay on a Terrace Bay Police Department charge of Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg. Balsor was convicted of Impaired Driving, fined $1,000 and given a two year licence suspension. Balsor was given a two year loss of driving privileges because of a previous Impaired conviction from Nova Scotia. Charges stemming from OPP investigations unless otherwise indicated.
